Starting point

A small business that wants a website usually chooses between a website builder and an agency. With a builder you do the work yourself; with an agency you often only see the result after you have paid.

Goal

An offering where businesses see the result before they pay, at a fixed price and without a subscription. Aimed at businesses in Switzerland, mainly trades, restaurants, practices and shops.

Approach

1. Project check: 18 questions, about 6 minutes. The quote is based on the answers.
2. Draft: Within five working days the client sees the finished site. If they do not like it, it costs nothing.
3. Build: Only now does the invoice arrive, with no deposit.
4. Handover: The domain, logins and source code belong to the client.

Decisions

• Draft before payment. I carry the risk that a draft misses the mark, not the business.
• Fixed prices instead of hourly rates. Website CHF 890, Standard CHF 1,900, Pro CHF 3,400, each a one-off. The business knows the cost up front.
• The client owns source code and domain. Anyone who wants to switch later can do so without me.
• No more than two projects at a time. So the five working days for the draft hold.
• No cookies. Statistics only with consent.

Result

odera.ch now runs the project check, a choice of page goal right in the hero (call, request a quote, book an appointment, visit), the preview «See your business in ten seconds» on the sample projects page, dedicated pages for trades, restaurants, practices and shops, the «Einblicke» section and a comparison of website builder, agency and ODERA. Concept, design, build, copy and operation are all my own work.
